Drive: A New Series on Fox

Maybe I shouldn't write this, but I like this show. I say that I shouldn't write this because sometimes when I say that, the show that I like goes away because it turns out that I am the only one who was watching besides the writer's family.
Jinxes aside, this show has a good feel to it. It has some of the pacing elements of Prison Break, and some of the layered feel of Lost. This show about a "secret, illegal cross country road race" (they seem to use that phrase once an episode), is turning out to be a surprise.
While the race in question has dozens of participants, we focus on 5 "teams". They have come together under a wide variety of circumstances and people have chosen to participate for wildly different stakes, including the guy who is trying to save his kidnapped wife.
Like Lost, the variety of the characters contributes to the show's feel. As time goes on, we seem to learn tidbits about our racers. Suffice to say they are often more than they initially appear to be. There are questions about whether or not they can keep up the pace of the initial episodes, but until we learn the answer, I'll try to just enjoy the ride.
