The Unit
I am still on the fence about this show. I like the fact that President Palmer has now become the black Jack Bauer with a whole squad of kick ass dudes. I dig the story lines when they are on mission - but all of the other stuff - seems like filler. I guess they are trying to appeal to a larger demographic -
Tuesday night's show had the team executing a bad man - apparently this person blew up a school bus of kids - but when the CIA calls the OPs off, the team has to scramble to get out of country. All the guys on the team don't have a problem getting away - Palmer goes to the CIA office and steals the "special passport" that get's him on a flight right away.
The story follows the FNG and his struggle to escape. So, you shoot someone, the police have your picture - what do you do? You walk around town looking to hitch a ride. Yea right. Then you get caught stealing a bike- WTF? Aren't you suppose to be this bad ass special forces dude? It's always the new guy that has a problem.
We have the other drama of the daughter who can't deal with life in college and wants to drop out and join the military. The kid and mom don't get along very well - geez, where have I seen that before?
In the end, the FNG escapes on a yacht playing a gay boy and the mom and daughter kiss and make up. I was deeply moved by all of the heartfelt emotion.
