Cast member Death: The New Black
This has been an interesting season for television. It seems that after a period where ensemble casts were largely kept intact, this season we have seen a resurgence in a what used to be a rarely used TV tactic: kill someone meaningful from the cast. It's an interesting tactic. for starters, it adds some surprise back into TV. After all, how often did we see the members of the USS Enterprise get into a situation that meant almost certain death, only to know that there was no way they were going to die. It was always the one guy on the away mission that no one had ever seen before.
Killing a central character can remind us that we form connections with some of these characters. They start to be more than just passing actors. We feel like we know them in some way and when lose them, we can actually miss them.
I want to take a moment here to say farewell to the cast members that all "bit the big one" this past season:
I hope to see most of these actors again soon and would like to thank them for their work in the creation of my entertainment. Until then...

I want to take a moment here to say farewell to the cast members that all "bit the big one" this past season:
- From Stargate Atlantis we lost Dr. Carson Beckett (played by Paul McGillion)
- From Lost we lost Charlie Pace (played by Dominic Monaghan)
- From Jericho we lost Johnston Green (played by Gerald McRaney)
- From the Sopranos we lost Christopher Moltisanti (played by Michael Imperioli)
- From Desperate Housewives we lost Edie Britt (played by Nicollette Sheridan)
I hope to see most of these actors again soon and would like to thank them for their work in the creation of my entertainment. Until then...
