It's been awhile
I can't believe I haven't been able to update this ole blog in such a long, I hate when that happens. So much has happened this summer, but I am glad we are past the labor day holiday and now back to business. Both girls are in school again, and my Dad's Club activities are starting to heat up again.
BNO last night! Or, I was collecting a debt owned to me from my pal, Patrick. He took France in the World Cup against the Azzurri and me of course, took the Italians - we all know how that ended.
Dinner and a movie - ate at a nice little Greek Restaurant in San Mateo - Athenas Gyros, 312 3rd Avenue, downtown San Mateo (opposite the movie theaters)- the food was great. Afterwards, we walked over to the theater and saw one of the best movies of 2006 "Beerfest" Here's the synopsis:
When American brothers Todd and Jan Wolfhouse travel to Germany to spread their grandfather's ashes at Oktoberfest, they stumble upon a super-secret, centuries old, underground beer games competition. The brothers receive a less than warm welcome from their German cousins, the Von Wolfhausens, who humiliate Todd and Jan, slander their relatives, and finally cast them out of the event. Vowing to return in a year to defend their country and their family's honor, The Wolfhouse boys assemble a ragtag dream team of beer drinkers and gamers. They train relentlessly, using their hearts, minds and livers to drink faster, smarter and harder than they ever have before. But first they must battle their own demons... as well as a bunch of big, blond, German jerks who want to destroy the team before they can even make it back to Munich.
There were some good laughs in the movie, some nudity, crude jokes and substance abuse, so definitely not a chick flick, but I was surprised at the amount of females in the theatre. Don't rush out to go see it - wait until it makes the rounds on DVD.
When we ran this morning, Beerfest was the topic and our conversations when downhill from there. What ever happens at BTC stays at BTC. :)
Good to be back!
