Heroes: Homecoming

OK. I'll say it, I think I may have been wrong about Mohinder having powers. Its too early to say definitely, but it certainly looks like Mo just got a visit from the ghost of Christmas past.
Before I digress, it looks like we have continued to change the timeline. The famous pose with Claire in the arena seems to have never quite happened. Peter Petrelli was with her. And what about the painting of Hiro and Ando under the homecoming banner? They seem to have missed all of the happenings in Odessa.
And now that Sylar seems to be in the custody of the "watchers", is the threat of the nuclear explosion gone, or is the group not really out to prevent the catastrophe? According to Eden they are, but I'm having a hard time getting a good read on her. She was very reluctant to get Issac back on drugs, but she doesn't seem all that sweet and innocent.
It's good to see how some of the heroes have embraced their role as heroes. Clearly, Hiro himself was the first to do it. His comment about a person not deserving powers if they are afraid to use them is a little like the famous Ben Parker line "with great power comes great responsibility". And Peter Petrelli is right up there. Despite seeing a vision of the future with himself dead, he rushed headlong into danger to save the world at whatever cost.
Will Peter's being arrested for the split skull of the cheerleader be the catalyst that brings FBI girl and Matt Parkman into the circle with the cheerleader and Petrelli? So far, those two seem a little removed from the gang.
And I have to say for the record, that I am thoroughly confused by the whole Ando situation. When Hiro went back in time, it was the day before homecoming. Since it is now homecoming day, Ando is apparently back in the diner the next day and still waiting for Hiro to return. Since there is a shrine set up for Charlie, should we assume that she is dead, or just missing? But since the older waitress knows Hiro from way back, does that mean that in the new timeline, Hiro doesn't manage to save Charlie? Why did he pop out of her life weeks ago? We know he is not dead, because he lives to be future Hiro, unless that timeline is changed as well.
Finally, we discover that Sylar does not have a built in Hero detector. He goes after people with abilities, but he doesn't automatically know who they are. That means that Chandar's list is really important to him, unless he has managed to put together his own list.
At least we see that Nathan Petrelli's motives are not all self centered. If you or I saw a painting of the future that featured someone close dead, we might have acted the same as Nathan. We can't all be heroes.
Oh... one more thing. How fast do we think that DL can phase? Guess we'll find out next week. I'm excited about next week's episode to see what the world was like 6 months ago. This is a perfect time for the writers to take us back and give us our own dose of Christmas past....

My Tuesday night TV watching was redeemed! OK, my turn to float a theory about the whole HRG dude and Mohinder's dad. I think they either worked together in the past, or maybe HRG dude was a secret sleeper governmental group put in play when the professor's book came out about evolution. Think 4400 and the whole promison (sp?) thing.
HRG dude had to come out from the shadows when he found out his adopted daughter was a target of Sylar. Now, both story lines have collided, we have the government and the professor's research.
In cheating with my DVR last night, I froze the screen and was able to count at least 11 names on the computer screen that were not deceased exhibiting special powers. I only recognized a couple of names so we have a whole lot of more discovery.
A good catch from my daughter last night was Niki's sister, Jessica at the cemetery. Looks like Jessica's soul has taken refuge in twin sis.
Love this show!!

Ok, let's talk about DL and phasing first. Physics tells us that we see a far away action before we hear it. If the bullet from Nikki's/Jessica's rifle can travel faster than the speed of sound, then it's lights out for DL. Unless...he can partially partially phase, which we saw he could do when he phased his arm to choke Nikki/Jessica in her bedroom but did not phase the rest of himself or he would've fallen through the bed.
I still believe that Mohinder may have some powers he doesn't know about yet, why else would his dad be so adamamt about Mohinder not getting involved with his dad's research. It's pretty obvious that Chandra Suresh felt that people with special abilities would be used, experimented on and even killed. He may have even figured on someone exactly like Sylar.
I'm not so sure as Big T about Nathan Petrelli's motives for ruining the painting. If the image is gone then Peter doesn't go to homecoming, Peter is safe. A safe Peter means no publicity for Peter, good or bad. If Peter goes and something happens, good or bad, that involves the police there is publicity for Peter and eventually for Nathan. We've seen Nathan try ot manipulate the press at every opportunity he could to further his campaign. His biggest fear seems not being able to control his brother.
I really like Peter Petrelli! With no powers of his own, to speak of, he faced Sylar even after seeing that he would die. Pretty heroic to me. But what about Peter's dream with Simone's dad? Quick aside, Richard Roundtree/Simone's dad/Shaft...you da man! Where was I...oh yeah, maybe Simone's dad had some Mental powers? Maybe Simone has some kind of ability too? Or is it that Peter doesn't know the full extent of what he can do?
Now for Hiro and time travel. First, I love the way Hire has embraced his role as a hero and doing what's right. Still, the whole time travel thing is an ugly can of worms to open up. Are there alternate universes where the alternate timelines are played out? Does changing an event create another alternate timeline and universe ala ST:TNG? Is time linear, or non-linear(ST:DS9) or more like a ball of string? I really want to see how the writers get themselves out of time travel hell. I did wonder about the shrine for Charlie too. Seemed to go up too fast and be too big to be for someone who only died the night before. I think Hiro saved her and the shrine is because she's gone missing. Also because Sylar cannot detect the people with special abilities by himself and needs the Dr. Suresh's map he may have killed someone but I don't think it was Charlie. I think he made a mistake just like he did at homecoming killing Claire's ex-best friend. Can't wait to see how this works itself out.
